Menengitis B outbreak

We understand that you are interested in receiving the Meningitis B vaccination due to the recent outbreak in Kent. We have received word that this outbreak is being managed by public health teams, not the NHS. Those at genuine risk will be contacted directly by public health teams. If you are not contacted, then you are unlikely to require prophylaxis (antibiotics). If you would like to speak to someone regarding the above, you can email the UK Health Security Agency directly at london.region@ukhsa.gov.uk If you or a loved one are concerned that you have Meningitis B, please attend A&E immediately rather than contacting the surgery. Babies up to the age of 2 who have missed their Meningitis B vaccines can be booked in to see a nurse at the surgery. Teenagers can have the Meningitis ACWY vaccine up to the age of 25 at the surgery only if they have not had it between the ages of 13 and 14 through their school. Only specific vulnerable patients may be eligible for the Meningitis B vaccine. These patients include those with spleen problems, or absence of spleen, those with complement disorders, and those on Ecluzimab. Please ensure that you are up to date with your other routine vaccinations including two doses of MMR. You can check your previous vaccinations either in your Red Book or through the NHS App. The link will tell you what vaccines you should have and when. https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/nhs-vaccinations-and-when-to-have-them/ If you are not eligible for vaccination on the NHS you are welcome to explore private routes elsewhere for the vaccine.
